For week number two begin by making a list of the items you did not work on during week one and integrate them into week two.
Monday: Week Two
Check all of your free e-mail accounts. Dump junk mail and delete and place into trash.
Create e-mail signatures and test these by sending sample e-mail to each of the other addresses.
Go ahead and answer e-mail you received over the weekend and include the appropriate signature file.
Send some sample autoresponder messages to yourself and see if you need to make any changes in the autoresponder text. Is all of your contact information included? Do you have any news you would like to share with your readers?
Do you have an order form at the bottom of the autoresponder message so that your reader can order by e-mail, regular mail, phone or fax?
If you have a website, update the pages on your website. If your graphics take too long to download, go to: http://giflube.netscape.com
Once you are there you can have giflube perform maintenance on your gif and jpeg files.
(These are your graphic files) Giflube can increase the speed of navigating around your site by reducing the colors in your images.
They give you a chance to see how those images will display at different color levels.
Sometimes you can reduce your graphic load by 65% without changing the look and feel of your graphics very noticeably.
Tuesday: Week Two Create another news release and search on your newsgroups and e-mail lists with "eBooks" as the search word and find groups where you can send your release.
Perform Internet searches under "eBook publishers" and request copies of contracts from three of those eBook publishers. Go ahead and read the contracts carefully and respond if they look good to you.
Wednesday: Week Two Fire up the Internet and browse to search enginewatch.com and read information on creating META tags for your website. Now insert the META tag information on each of your website pages. If you have no website, go to the top 10 search engines listed and complete the forms to add an URL. The URL will be the address of your eBook location at Mightywords.com, 1stbooks Library, or any other of your eBook publishers.
Go to John Kremer's Website at:
http://www.bookmarket.com
Look up the top 100 book marketing sites. Pick 2 marketing activities from that list and market your eBook.
Thursday: Week Two Pick out 3 marketing activities from Chapter Four and Chapter Five. Follow up on any phone calls you have made to media, schools or associations.
Look for 3 new eBook publisher/booksellers. Make sure they only require non-exclusive rights to your eBook. You want to list with as many eBook sellers and websites as you can find.
Look for 3 magazines that cater to your eBook audience. If you are a romance writer, find 3 magazines that advertise lots of romance books. If you write about self-improvement, find 3 magazines that focus on self-improvement. Send the editor a query e-mail asking him/her to consider reading one of the chapters of your eBook.
Friday: Week Two Analyze what you did right this week. Write a new article or find another sample Chapter of your eBook that you can present next week to your newsgroup and e-zine lists.
Marketing Evaluation for the Week
Go back and make a list of activities you missed during weeks one and two. Begin with those activities on Monday during week three. When you begin getting positive responses to your marketing efforts in any marketing activity, go ahead and do more.
When newsletter editors want to post your articles or sample chapters, find other newsletters in that same category and send e-mail requests to post your articles in exchange for your bi-line and direct ordering information.
You can make it happen. Its fun to watch your sales grow from your own efforts. You don't have to have an agent or worry about how many people are visiting Amazon.com today. You are responsible for your eBook marketing success.
